We had a big celebration at Hayes Cricket Club when our under 15's beat Hayes in the Plate Quarter Final. An incredible result given that in the past we have only beaten Hayes at their grounds on just a few occasions. Tharushka was made captain for this match.

We started badly with an unexpected collapse of our top order. This was very unusual given that our top order has been very steady. However Ashwin and Tharushka rose to the occasion to take us to a fairly respectable total of 102 off our 20 overs. Ashwin remained unbeaten on 46 whilst Tharushka remained unbeaten on 22. This left Hayes a target of 103 off 20 overs.

When Hayes came in to bat Tharushka opened the bowling for us. His first ball was so wide that it went for 5 wides. He then bowled 2 dot balls and then clean bowled the Hayes top order batsmen with his next 3 balls. An amazing hat trick in his first over. Tharushka also took a further 2 wickets in the match to end up with a 5 wicket haul. His final figures were 4.0.16.5. Hayes never really recovered from this set back. Hashan also bowled very well to keep the pressure and ended up with quite amazing figures for a spinner of 4.0.9.2. Beeshman also bowled well to pick up 2 wickets and ended with figures of 3.0.15.2

Hayes were finally all out for 77 which meant that MTSSC won by 25 runs.

This was truly a captains performance with both the bat and ball from Tharushka and we are glad that he chose to leave his original club Hayes to join MTSSC.

We appreciate the effort of our 13th & 14th players Dilshan & Surendra who came and supported their colleagues.

Well done boys keep up the winning momentum and we would like to see a similar or better performance in the semi-final against Lohana at our home grounds on Sunday the 31st of July.
