Well done boys another win under our belt!!

Praveen won the toss and elected to field. We opened the bowling with Beeshman and Hashan. Both bowlers bowled well and kept the run rate down to approximately 3 runs per over. The first 6 overs conceded just 20 runs. Beeshman’s first over was an excellent maiden. Hashan too bowled well to pick up a wicket and affect a run out in his 3 overs. He would have picked up a second wicket if Seerone had held onto a sharp chance that was offered.

Then Praveen and Tharushka came into the attack. Tharushka’s first over was expensive but he recovered well to only concede 5 runs in his next 2 overs. Praveen bowled well and was able to pick up a wicket in his second over. However the Lohana batsmen targeted him and the run rate steadily increased. The introduction of Kirthan was a turning point as he bowled 2 of the Lohana batsmen to keep the run rate in check. His bowling was a delight to watch and he ended up with figures of 3 overs, 13 runs for 2 wickets.

Our fielding was also very good. The good running catch taken by Ram was excellent along with the direct hit by Sobhanan to get rid of the dangerous Kishan from Lohana. Our wicket keeper Kishen was also contributed with a smart stumping.

Lohana finally ended up on 75 for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 15 overs leaving us a target of 76 to win.

Our opening pair of Ram (29) and Seerone (17) gave us a good start. We did lose Ashwin for 6 and Sobhanan for 1 but Praveen and Tharushka batted sensibly to take us home. Tharushka scored a quick fire 9 and sealed the victory with a boundary as he did in the previous match against West Harrow.

The overall performance in batting, bowling and fielding was satisfactory. We are impressed with our boy’s performance.

Well done boys keep the momentum going for the next two matches especially the match against Stanmore on the 7th of July.
