The third XI went into the game against Wembley with a lot of confidence from last week's performance and Kala had no hesitation in choosing to field again on winning the Toss. MTSSC started well with Thana getting an opener early for a duck. Wembley put on a slow partnership for the 2nd wicket though and even though MTSSC bowled tight a dropped catch meant Wembley survived the rest of Thana's spell without losing wickets. Sree was then brought into the attack and Kala swapped ends. Sree started where he left off against Perivale and settled into a Rhythm beating the batsman continuously and the edge that came went too fast for the lone slip.Kala got a breakthrough finally from the other end as the batsman caved to the pressure and swung across the line missing the ball completely while the next batsman in was dismissed caught off kala by an alert Sree at Square leg.Now that we had a new batsman in Sree continued his impressive bowling with 2 slips and close in fielders pressuring the batsman. Mean while Mannan who came into the attack was at his economic best strangling the batsman with his tight bowling. Sree's hard work paid off with him getting 2 classic Leg Spinners wickets both batsman edging to Kala at slip. Mannan was also rewarded with a wicket but more importantly his spell read 12 Overs,5 Maidens,11 Runs. Then MTSSC went searching for wickets and Suresh got 2 breakthroughs with his wily bowling and getting the ball to move both ways. Thana came back into the attack to get one more wicket to his tally and Prasanna got his maiden wicket for MTSSC with the Wembley innings closing at 158 All out

3rd XI after win against Wembley
2nd Row ( Sree , Prasanna , Mannan , Dharan)
With a target of 159 in 42 Overs the talk at the tea interval was to carefully negotiate Wembley's Murphy as he had derailed MTSSC twice last season with his accurate bowling. Both openers started carefully in the first couple of overs but by then Ramanan had got his eye in and with carrying last week's form he raced to a 50 with Pradeep playing support. Soon after Pradeep also changed gears and MTSSC raced towards the target with none of Wembley's bowling changes affecting out batsman. Ramanan fell for 88 runs when we were 10 shy of the target no doubt going for a consecutive century. Pradeep remained unbeaten on 70 as MTSSC crossed the line with Sendi giving him company with a solitary run. It was again a good performance from our Top order batsman but it also highlighted the excellent work by our bowlers to restrict Wembley for such a low score.
Next week we take on table toppers Indian Gymkhana and victory against them would catapult 3rd XI to the top of the Division One table in the 1987 league and hopefully we will have another victorious match report next week.
