MTSSC were looking to bounce back from last week's defeat and hosted local rivals Bessborough this week.

Bessborough won the toss and elected to field. MTSSC lost an early wicket but Pradeep and Sendi stabilized the ship and put on a 100 wicket partnership both scoring 50's in the process. Dharan picked up the baton with a customary 30 and new comers Nadeem and Prasanna weighed in with good contributions to post a commanding total of 245 in 50 Overs.

Bessborough  had to get the target in 42 overs. MTSSC opening bowlers Thana and Nadeem started well picking up 3 wickets each to have them reeling. At this point Bessborough decided to save the game and started to block. Kala came into the attack and picked up one of the batsmen and Sendi came into the atttack to pick up a couple of crucial wickets to leave Bessborough reeling at 103 for 9 with 15 overs to go.

However complacency crept into the fielding and a chance each was put down from Kala and Sendi's bowling. MTSSC tried out the pace options but the Bessborough batsmen were adept at keeping off the yorkers and defended very well. MTSSC switched to spin for the last few overs hoping to induce aerial shots and though there were a few they were not even half chances. The last over was bowled by Kala who was bowling spin and the chance did arrive in the second ball of the last over. It was decent chance but the close in fielder could not hang on to it and there went the last opportunity. MTSSC had a very good shout for LBW of the last ball of the match but as one would expect in that stage from player-umpires it was turned down. However we should appreciate Bessborough batsman Shubraj for his sportsmanship when he chose to walk when the umpire did not hear the edge earlier in the match.

It was points dropped for MTSSC but at least an improvement from last week's defeat. We will now hope to build a good momentum heading into the season
